The Career Path

Here is exactly what a career at Callicarpa looks like

We don’t believe in vague promises about “growth opportunities.” Every new hire begins with a 90-day Associate period — paid hourly, hands-on training, building your foundation. When your clientele is ready, you move directly into the Emerging Artist tier and begin earning commission.

Emerging Artist

Building your book, sharpening your timing, developing the consistency a full column requires.

Schedule: Set by salon · 30 hrs/week min
Commission: 40–48% of weekly service revenue

Established Artist

Your column is full, clients rebook, and you’ve earned the freedom to choose your own work days.

Schedule: Own work days · 30 hrs/week min
Perks: Color correction unlocked · Higher pricing

Luminary Artist

The top of the house. Premium pricing, a waitlist, and full schedule autonomy — earned by consistently performing at the highest level.

Two years is the industry average to build a full clientele. But for stylists who show up on social media, build their personal brand, and stay consistent — that timeline shrinks. The opportunity is yours to accelerate.

4:30 – 8:30

Stylists may work a combination of shifts. When working multiple shifts in a day, there is a 30-minute unpaid break between shifts. You don’t have to drive an hour each way to build something real. That’s the whole point.

$1,000.01 – $1,400	42%

Retail commission

All team members — including Associates — earn retail commission on personal monthly sales, starting at 10% once you hit $100 in a month and climbing to 20% at $300 and above.

Your service prices increase at each tier — Emerging, Established, and Luminary Artists each carry a higher rate. Your skill and your earning power grow together.
